The best trade-ups from tonight's prices
One collection, the same skin in every slot, bought at its cheapest Steam listing with the float high in its wear, where the cheapest listings usually are. Under Covert it is five Coverts for a knife or gloves. Ranked by what comes back per dollar after the fee. Pick one to load it into the calculator, then change its floats or mix in a second collection.
3 of these make money on average tonight, before you count the chance of a loss.
Prices are the cheapest listing in each wear and change all day. Check a listing's float before you buy, since a low float costs more.
How does a trade-up work?
Which skin do you get?
Ten skins of one grade give one skin of the next grade up. It comes from the collections your inputs are from. A collection with 6 of your 10 inputs has a 60% chance, split evenly over the skins it has in the next grade. Fewer skins in that grade means a better chance at each one.
What float does it come out at?
Each input counts by where its float sits in its own range. A 0.20 on a skin that goes from 0.00 to 0.80 is a quarter of the way. The positions are averaged, and the new skin lands at that same position in its own range. So the same contract can give one skin in Minimal Wear and another in Field-Tested.
Can you trade up for a knife?
Yes, since October 2025. Five Coverts give a knife or gloves from the cases those Coverts come from. StatTrak™ in gives StatTrak™ out, and you can't mix the two in one contract. There are no StatTrak™ gloves, so a StatTrak™ contract only takes Coverts from knife cases.
Which collections are in the calculator?
All 93of them with weapon skins. That is every weapon case from Mil-Spec up to its knives or gloves, and every map, operation and Armory collection from Consumer up. Limited Edition Items from the Armory are left out, because they can't go into a contract.
Common questions
How do CS2 trade-ups work?
You put ten skins of one grade into a trade-up contract and get one skin of the next grade up. It comes from the collections your skins are from, and each collection's chance is its share of the ten. Five Coverts give a knife or gloves.
How is the trade-up float calculated?
Each input's float is placed in its own range, so a 0.20 on a skin that runs from 0.00 to 0.80 counts as a quarter of the way. The positions are averaged and the new skin lands at that same spot in its range. Valve has not published this. It is what players have measured since 2024.
What is the best trade-up right now?
From tonight's prices, 10 P90 | Schematic in Well-Worn for $63.30. That Mil-Spec contract gives back 269 cents per dollar after Steam's fee, with a 33% chance of profit. Prices move every day, so check the table on this page.
Are CS2 trade-ups profitable?
Most lose money on average once Steam takes its 15%. Of the 60 best one-collection contracts tonight, 32 give back more than a dollar per dollar. Even a contract that wins on average loses often, so the chance of profit matters as much as the average.
How much does a knife trade-up cost?
Five Coverts from knife or glove cases. The cheapest five from one case tonight cost $246.30 (AK-47 | Neon Rider), and what comes back is worth $201.33 on average after the fee.
Can you mix StatTrak and normal skins in a trade-up?
No. A contract is all StatTrak or all normal, and StatTrak in gives StatTrak out. There are no StatTrak gloves, so a StatTrak knife contract only takes Coverts from knife cases.
Where the numbers come from
The knife and glove trade-up is in Valve's October 22, 2025 patch notes. The float rule is not in any patch notes. It is what players have measured, and trade-up tools agree on it.
Prices are the lowest current listing on the Steam Community Market for each wear, normal, StatTrak™ and Souvenir, read once a week for every skin, knife and pair of gloves. A low float inside a wear usually costs more than that, and pattern premiums like a Case Hardened Blue Gem are left out. What is in each collection comes from the game's item files.
